What is SRS?

What is SRS? 

SRS is software Requirement Specification document. SRS is document that contains complete description of system to be developed. It  contains functional and non functional requirements. Along with requirements, it also describes constraints related to system. This is first document on which all sub sequent documents are based. SRS is a two way insurance policy that assures that both the client and the organization understand the other's requirements.  But important point about SRS is that it doesn't offer design suggestions, possible solutions to technology or business issues, or any other information other customer's system requirements.
