Data Communication and Networking Difference

 Difference in the last but some description first.

Data Communication 

Definition 1: The transfer of data from sender to send or transmitter to receiver or vice versa is called Data Communication. The source transfer data and receiver receive it.

Definition 2: Exchange of Digital Information between two digital devices is data communication.

Definition 3:The actual Generation of the information  is not part of Data Communications nor is the resulting action of the information at the receiver. Data communication is interested in the transfer of data, the method of transfer and the preservation of the data during the transfer process.

There are 3 Types of Data Communications

• Simplex
• Half Duplex
• Full Duplex
• Serial

Networking

The method of sending and receiving information between computers or technology used to accomplish this communication. For this purpose we used topology.

Topology

The physical topology of a network refers to the configuration of cables, computer and other peripherals.

Types of Topologies.

• Bus topology
• Ring topology
• Star topology

Difference in Data Communication & Networking

Data communication technologies deal with means and methods of data transfer from one location to another. Marriage between computing and data communication technologies is one of the most exciting developments that has revolutionized information age. This development gave birth to computer network

A computer network is a network of computers that are geographically distributed, but connected in a manner to enable meaningful transmission and exchange of data among them.
While Networking would be the method for getting that information transferred between the sender and receiver.

Some one ask me a question what topology you will suggest, I am worker at network forum. If have the order of one medical store that I should design a network for store keeper & Store keeper want star topology in network . then what is topology I should prefer and why. I need your suggestion with reasons?

It will depend upon the requirements of your client; you will have to consider the number of users, scope of network in term of area and many other factors. Usually we prefer Star Topology due to its advantages over other topologies.

What is role of Router, Switch, Repeater and Hub etc and what is the difference exist among them.? And similarly I want to know that Is PTCL DSL modem is just modem or it is also Hub, and What is the topology will PTCL Modem adobe for providing us LAN.
