What is back seat consumer what is the difference between reference group and opinion leader.
A reference group is a group to which the customer is related with and thus it influences consumer behavior. E.g. peers or friends of a young girl may influence her. Likewise family may act as a reference group for a mother. Thus reference groups like peers or family may influence consumer behavior.
An opinion leader is very knowledgeable regarding a certain product category. He is usually the one to whom different customers with less knowledge turn to seek his advice.
A back seat customer is the one who is quite passive in formulating his opinions about product categories and try to take and shop for the products as they appear in the market.
