What is Sales Analysis?

Sales trend analysis gives a clue to emerging trends in business. Sales patterns of different customer segments indicate market trends. E.g. it gives hint towards the following: Which customer segment is the most profitable? Which customer segment is showing a downward trend? These trends can be categorized into short term trends which tend to capture markets rapidly?, middle term trends which are indicative of developing markets and finally long term trends which are indicative of developed markets.
