What to consider while selecting a transmission medium ?

Each transmission medium requires specialized network hardware that is compatible with that medium, and most networks need to use combination of transmission media types selected based on the network's needs .There are some factors that are considered while choosing transmission medium for example cost ,ease of installation , security ,distance and bandwidth etc. There are three types of medium twisted pair cable coaxial cable and fiber optical cable every medium has some advantage and disadvantages.
