In a switch network if we send packets one after the other and continuously?

In a switch network if we send packets one after the other and continuously,then at some time if we find a delay then what will be that delay.I mean there are different types of delay.So,in the case explain above what delay it will be? And how can we write math equation for that what can it be .

Delay in simple word is the time required for a packet to reach from one point in a network to another point the point may be a queue in a router or next hop or the destination system or of any other form. From your statement if we are continuously sending data to a particular router just like DoS attack the queues of the router will fill up and the packet may have to wait for some time there in the queue just before their transmission to the transmission medium this delay will be called the queuing delay.

You may find some other types of the delays from the following link;
