Difference between ILFs and EIFs - Definition & Abbreviation

Abbreviation of ILF and EIF:

ILF:

ILF stands for Internal Logical File.

EIF:

EIF stands for External Interface File.

Differentiate between ILF and EIF:

There is no big difference between ILF and EIF. Both are the user identifiable group of logically related data one is maintained in the boundary of the application and the other is maintained within the boundary of another application. Below is the ILF vs EIF definitions.

ILF ( internal logical file):

ILF stands for Internal Logical File. An ILF is a user-identifiable group of logically related data or control information maintained within the boundary of the application. For example, tables in a relational database.

EIF (external interface file):

An External Interface File (EIF) is a user identifiable group of logically related data or control information referenced by the application, but maintained within the boundary of another application. EIF must be an ILF in an other application.

It means that data is being by the application but data that is not maintained by the application rather the data is being maintained by an external entity.

Enternal Interface Files:

Enternal Interface Files are same as Internal Logical Files but with only difference that ILF's are not maintained by the system which is using it.
