Proprietary Software:

Proprietary software is a type of software in which a user has limited possibilities to use and modify(the source code). The softwares are protected by restrictive licensing clauses and you cannot redistribute it without permission. e.g. licensed software( you need to pay some cost).

Non-Proprietary Software:

Non-proprietary software is not a widely used term and has no generally accepted definition. It is sometimes used as an umbrella term for the many alternative terms for free software. These are open source software, users are provided with code so that they can modify code to enhance its ability and make more convenient for their use.

Examples of Proprietary Software:

Proprietary software include many of the entities who provide license for their software to use or to redistribute.
