Many a WLAN network can drive iOS devices on strike. If the name contains a certain string of characters, this can interfere with the WLAN function of the device. This is reported by “ heise online ” with reference to a video demonstration by the Danish IT specialist Carl Schou on the Twitter network.
After connecting to a Wi-Fi network with this string, the iPhone's Wi-Fi could no longer be activated. Connection to other networks was also no longer possible. Such string errors occur from time to time, even in messenger services certain strings can cause unexpected consequences. Basically, so the report, the described case is rather harmless.
Keep calm, reset network settings
Anyone who has already brought their iOS device to strike by imitating or accidentally connected to a so-called network for fun can simply eliminate the problem. To do this, go to the settings under «General» and «Reset» and reset the network settings of the device. Everything should work again.
Even smarter: don't even connect to such dubiously named WiFi networks. Notes for safe handling are the Federal Office for Information Security on its website.
