What is the mean of "wear and tear"?

Wear and tear is damage that naturally and inevitably occurs as a result of normal use of some thing. It means that objects will get messier and more worn down over time. For example, when you go to the market and purchase a new TV. It works for few years and then it may malfunction and you may have to repair that TV. So in that sense, there is life factor involved with the TV. Every non-software product we use in our daily life has some life factor associated with it. But there is no "wear and tear" element involved with software. It is not possible that software is working properly and after some years it may stop working.

This "wear and tear" factor distinguishes a software system from other non-software systems.
