What is the Attenuation?

In Data Communication, attenuation refers to any reduction in the strength of a signal. It can occur in both Analog and Digital signals. The extent of attenuation is usually expressed in units called decibels (dBs).
In simple words, when we transmit signals over longer distance then after some specific distance or range, the signals start getting lose strength due to several reasons which is why most of networks require repeaters at regular intervals.
