Situational and Enviromental Context ?

Q.1 Explain situational context and "environmental context"?

Q.2 Is behavior important in interpersonal communication?

Situational context is the psycho social where the communication is taking place. For example, a student would have an informal communication with teacher in a restaurant while an interaction that takes place in the classroom would be different from that.

Environmental context refers to the physical context or external environment that also influence the way communication takes place. For example, if a person is temperature, time, place, lighting or any other physical barrier in the environment like the noise around the place you are communicating also matters. Your response and interest to any conversation taking place in a room that is not air-conditioned in a very hot summer day may be different from that of a interaction taking place in a n air conditioned room.

Now come to your second question. Obviously, behavior effects communication. Our behavior communicates and our very attempt to not communicate, communicates something. For example, if the tone of your voice is very low and you’re facial expressions are showing the feeling of sadness while congratulating your friend on her achievement. In this case, your friend can easily assume from your behavior that you are not happy or somehow jealous at her achievement.
